Given that we had to make the difficult decision to postpone both the El Paso and Almagro symposiums of the Association for Hispanic Classical Theater, our board has approved the organization of a virtual conference this summer. This conference will give scholars and artists who were originally planning on presenting in these two conferences the chance to share their paper, panel or workshop. Papers that were already accepted to either of the symposiums will automatically be accepted to this virtual conference.
Symposium dates: July 15-17, 2020
Where: Online (details to follow)
Fees*: $50 faculty presenters / $25 graduate students and auditors
*Note: we are inviting several practitioners to share scenes from their plays and discuss their process and the current situation for artists. The fees will go towards paying them a small honorarium. Any remaining money will be donated back to the Association to support future graduate student travel funds.
The following practitioners and companies have committed to collaborate in this project: Festival internacional de teatro clásico de Almagro, EFE TRES Teatro, Ainhoa Amestoy, Teatro Inverso, and more!
If you are interested in participating, we would ask that you fill out the form at the link below. This will confirm your participation and, if you were presenting more than once or at both conferences, the paper you wish to present virtually. Due to time constraints we can only allow one presentation per person. Please note that papers presented virtually cannot be repeated at AHCT events in Almagro or El Paso in 2021.
Fill out the form HERE by Saturday, May 30, 2020. Once we have everyone’s responses we will send more information regarding the fees, program, and video conferencing software.
If you are interested in submitting a new paper or auditing, please fill out this FORM by June 5, 2020. There is a fee of $25 for auditors.
If you have any questions or would like more information, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us! Questions can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org
Best wishes, las organizadoras
